Certain things will never change if there is no inner change. When difficult emotions are avoided, things stay in stasis. When inner blocks aren’t attended to, no outer change will occur. This is true for personal circumstances; it is true for collective circumstances.

Addictions, destructive patterns, unhealthy tendencies, and relationships do not shift if there is no integration of the painful emotions that keep the situation stuck. Real change requires emotional integration.

We might ask ourselves: Why doesn’t this change? But a better question is: What emotions are keeping this thing stuck? It might be that there is an enormous block of anger or fear that hasn’t been attended to. These blocks can be so charged and overwhelming that we might want to avoid it for years or decades. But the solution is to slowly and kindly bring awareness to it. The solution is to feel what’s there repeatedly over weeks and months.

Make emotional processing a daily habit like brushing teeth. Document the process. Investigate the emotions. Feel what’s there. Inner change inevitably leads to outer renewal.
