Dreamwork is a skill that we can cultivate over time. For me, dream advice is one of the most important things I pay attention to. This post discusses four key ideas.
Dreams Are Not Just Dreams
Realise that dreams are not just dreams. Dreams carry messages that aid us on our soul journey. These messages are highly tailored to our particular journey and mission.
Dreams show us things that we are often unwilling to admit in our waking life. They show us things that we are unaware of. They have the capacity to make us aware of bad trajectories. They have the capacity to lead us on a path of greater meaning.
Pay Attention to Feeling in Dreams
Feeling in dreams (and life) are very important. Dreams that are charged with emotions— whether those emotions are good or bad—are usually much more important than dreams that are emotionless.
A fearful scenario in a dream might desperately be seeking our attention because we need to become aware of something important. A vivid dream in which we feel love and excitement might be showing us in which direction to move.
In my own experience, I’ve noticed that vivid dreams often go hand in hand with strong emotions. Objects or symbols that evoke deep emotions are usually important. Keep a list of those.
Review Dreams Regularly
Because dream messages often have multiple layers and meanings, it’s good to review dreams regularly. I’ve often noticed that some dream messages become clearer over time.
Recurring Dreams Are Important
This is arguably the most important point. Recurring dreams are important. They tend to address major soul lessons. These dreams often take years to be worked out and worked through.
I’ve mentioned in a previous post, that I had a recurring dream for many years that involved navigating terrains with dirty water. I eventually came to understand that this was referring to emotional baggage, but even after this realisation, I did not know how to purify the water. I slowly became aware of how to address this by paying attention to the times when I was dreaming of clear water. I asked myself, what I was doing differently during those times.
Grounding is another recurring theme in my dreams, but that is a topic for another post. The point is this: Recurring dreams are more important than regular dreams. Our soul is trying to show us something important, otherwise it would not bother to repeat itself.
