Chasing Presence

Sometimes during my morning meditation I get this sense of urgency to feel that calm centredness I often associate with being present.

Paradoxically, I then start chasing that feeling instead of just becoming present. And the more I chase, the more I want to get there, the less I am in the now. It’s like I completely forget that meditation is a state of surrender, not a state of wanting or having.

Being present can sometimes be the hardest easiest thing to do.
