When you vibrate a horizontal plate with sand on top, the sand mostly just dances around. But when you vibrate it at one of its natural frequencies, an organised pattern emerges. These patterns can be quite complex, depending on the frequency.
Meditation is like this.
When you silence the inner critic, the endless narratives, the blame, the worries, the angry stories, you reach your own natural frequency. This is how to think about it. And it’s not quite as esoteric as you might believe.
It is something that can be felt.
You can feel a slight lift in posture. Or a spaciousness might emerge. Suddenly, whatever was bothering you, has less of a hold. You feel present.
Why This is A Foundational Principle For Life
Managing a lot of physical things can become tedious if we don’t move from Presence. It would be like trying to organise those sand grains into complex patterns using hand and butter knife. You can try it that way—but it doesn’t quite look right. And it takes tiresome efforting in arrangements.
The alternative is to make sure that you are present first. That would be the equivalent of letting the plate vibrate at a natural frequency.
